Electric Bicycles:Twelve Reasons for NOT Getting an Electric Bike.Reason 9. Nobody Else Seems to Have Electric Bicycles.Yep. I agree with that.  I live on the outskirts of Cork City in Ireland – and I have never come across an Electric Bicycle in my travels.
So, what’s the reality? How many Electric Bicycles are out there? And Where? What is the trend for next year? 2007:

It seems that up to recently, Electric Bikes were targeted at a speciality markete.g. the over 55’s. Now, with the availability of a much wider model range – their appeal seems to be crossing over. In my neck of the woods, a recent change in tax law is allowing employers to sell tax-free electric bicycles to employees (saving up to 41% for a 1000 euro Electric Bike). Hmmm ... seems like there is a BIG TREND here going into the future.  For me – at the moment – Electric Bike Riders and Dealers ARE INVISIBLE ... BUT .... there must be a BIG WAVE coming over the hill (which shall be effortlessly flattened with my Electric Bicycle!) Conclusion: Nobody else seems to have an Electric Bicycle? Seems to be very true – at least to me where I live. But I’ve got a feeling that this is going to REALLY, REALLY change over the next 5 years. Now, what was the next reason NOT to get a Electric bicycle? Go to Reason Number 10: Nobody is Selling Electric Bicycles. Go Back to Reason Number 8: There are Lots of Extra Bits to Maintain with Electric Bicycles.
